About Our School

St. John Paul II Catholic School

The St. John Paul II Catholic School community believes that a Catholic school is one in which the teachings of Jesus Christ are integrated into the day-to-day curriculum and social fabric of school life. The strength of our school comes from the Catholic faith that the staff, students and community share. We aspire to have our students develop a way of living that embodies the life of Jesus Christ. Our school engages all staff and students in 21st century learning opportunities. All of the learning systems – curriculum instruction, assessment, professional learning, accountability and resource allocation – are in support of 21st century learning. Students will be creative, critical-thinking global citizens, analysts, communicators and producers engaged in learning that is conceptual and authentic within an inquiry based environment.

Academic Program:

We offer instruction in English (Language), French (Language), Mathematics, Science and Technology, Religion & Family Life, Social Studies, The Arts (Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Dance), and Health & Physical Education. All programs are based on the Ontario Curriculum. You are welcome to view these curriculum documents online. We are also a French Immersion centre offering the choice of extended or immersion beginning in grade 4.

Family of Schools:

We are a feeder school for Lester B. Pearson H.S.. Check the school boundary maps on the Board website for more information.

Full-Day Kindergarten:

We will offer a rich and exciting full-day play-based Kindergarten Immersion program in September 2012. This two-year program fosters healthy child development and prepares students for grade 1. For more information, please visit the Ministry of Education website

Extended Day Program:

Before and After School Care: Children from Kindergarten through Grade Six are eligible to attend our Extended Day Program (aka - Before and After School Program). Space is limited.
